Environmental Advocacy Workshop

If you’re a Young Professional member of The
Environmental Defenders, you’re invited to participate in a
pilot project called “Environmental Advocacy Workshops.”
At this first one we’ll have a speaker, who will talk about
learning how to have your voice heard in Springfield and
locally (from filing witness slips to attending your village or
city council meetings) when it comes to environmental issues.
We look forward to your participation and suggestions as we
refine and build the presentation. Our ultimate goal is to
entice some of you to become “Environmental
Ambassadors,” and regularly attend your local government
meetings. That way we can stay informed about issues
affecting the environment at the local level.
Environmental Advocacy Workshop
We’ll be holding the workshop at Duke’s
Alehouse & Kitchen, 110 N. Main Street,
Crystal Lake, with social time beginning at
5:30 PM. The program will begin at 6 PM.
For those who are interested, we plan to stay for dinner
afterwards and continue our conversation!
Our speakers will be Kim Hankins, Director of the
Sustainability Center at McHenry County College and
Environmental Defenders’ First Vice-President, and Nancy
Schietzelt, Environmental Defenders, Second Vice-President.
Please email your RSVP to cwkannerenvirodefmc@gmail.com
by Monday, July 16, with Environmental Advocacy Workshop
in the subject line.
